NASSAU COUNTY — Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election begins Thursday, Oct. 22, with five polling locations across Nassau County open for 10 consecutive days.

Polls will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 31, including both weekends, according to Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins.

Registered Nassau County voters can cast their ballots at any of the five early voting locations, regardless of where they live in the county. That differs from Election Day, when voters must report to their assigned precinct polling place.

The five early voting locations are:

  • Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center: 2500 Atlantic Ave., Fernandina Beach.

  • Hilliard Community Center: 37177 Pecan St., Hilliard.

  • James S. Page Governmental Complex: 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee.

  • Walter Junior Boatright County Building: 45401 N. Mickler St., Callahan.

  • Yulee Sports Complex: 86142 Goodbread Road, Yulee.

The deadline to register to vote in the general election was Oct. 5. Residents who were not registered by that date cannot register now and vote in the Nov. 3 election.

Thursday, Oct. 22, is also the deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed to a voter. The request must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office by 5 p.m.

Voters who plan to cast their ballots in person must bring identification containing both a photograph and signature.

Acceptable identification includes a Florida driver's license, Florida identification card, U.S. passport, military identification, student identification, debit or credit card, or government employee identification.

Other acceptable forms include retirement center identification, neighborhood association identification, public assistance identification, a Veterans Affairs health identification card or a Florida concealed weapon license.

If a voter's photo identification does not include a signature, a second form of identification containing a signature is required.

Voters who arrive without the required identification can still cast a provisional ballot. The Nassau County Canvassing Board will determine whether the ballot meets the legal requirements to be counted.

The Supervisor of Elections Office encourages voters to bring their sample ballots with their selections marked in advance. Making voting decisions before arriving at the polling place can reduce the time needed to complete a ballot and help keep lines moving.

Voters who have received vote-by-mail ballots can return them through secure ballot intake stations at designated early voting locations during voting hours.

Completed vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted, with limited exceptions under state law.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, when precinct polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. will be permitted to vote.

Unlike early voting, Election Day voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct polling places.

Residents can check their voter registration status, review sample ballots and find election information at www.votenassaufl.gov.

The Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Office is located at the James S. Page Governmental Complex, 96135 Nassau Place, Suite 3, in Yulee. The office can be reached at 904-491-7500 or toll-free at 866-260-4301.
